4-5 Solar Radiation Spectral Distribution

Solar radiation is an electromagnetic radiation, that is, there are volatility, there are particles. The main wavelength range of the spectrum, while the ground and atmospheric radiation0.15-4µm, the main wavelength range was 3-120µm. In meteorology, according to the wavelength of solar radiation is usually referred to as short-wave radiation, while the ground and atmospheric radiation known as long-wave radiation.

The spectrum of solar radiation is divided into wavelength bands by wavelength: wavelength is less than 0.4µm for the ultraviolet band; from 0.4-0.75µm optical band; wavelength greater than 0.75µm for the infrared band. In the wavelength range of the visible spectrum, different wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation on the human eye to produce different colors. Table 1-1 lists the wavelengths and their spectral ranges for each color.

The energy distribution of the solar spectrum is plotted in Fig. 1-3, with the radiant energy plotted on the ordinate and the wavelength plotted on the abscissa. From the left, we can see that although the wavelength range of solar radiation is wide, most of the energy is concentrated in the wave band of 0.22 to 4.0µm, accounting for 99% of the total energy. Among them, the visible light band of about 43%, infrared band of about 48,3%, the ultraviolet band of about 8.7%, the maximum energy distribution corresponding to the wavelength is 0.475µm, are blue-green.
