Europe Needs China Solar Panels

According to the Russian satellite network reported on September 5, China is the world's largest producer of solar panels, and its products account for up to 60% of the world. The cumulative installed capacity of solar photovoltaic power generation in China has reached 130GW – there is no second country in the world. In 2008, there was an obvious overcapacity in the field of solar panels in China. Due to the relatively low price, the EU believes that China is artificially reducing the price of solar panels. In December 2013, the European Commission imposed anti-dumping and countervailing duties on Chinese imports of solar panels for two years. It was extended by another one and a half years in March 2017, and it just expired not long ago.
The report said that while Europe is already considering whether to continue the extension, the United States has taken a step forward. In January it imposed a 30% tariff on Chinese solar panels. This has also become a prelude to the beginning of the trade war. The US government claims that China's exports of solar panels to the United States increased by 500% in 2012-2016, while its price dropped by about 60%, forcing US companies to actually stop production in the United States.
The report said that it seems that in this regard, the EU did not support the United States to restrict Chinese imports. There is not enough green clean energy production capacity in Europe. As a result, the price of solar power generator solar panels in the EU is too high, and it is naturally unfortunate for consumers. Therefore, as Liu Huaqin, a researcher at the Institute of International Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Commerce of China, pointed out in an interview with the Satellite News Agency, the imposition of high tariffs is no longer in the interest of the EU.
Liu Huaqin said: "The EU has corresponding regulations on solar panels. It can be extended or terminated after the expiration of five years. The termination is also due to the development of the EU itself, because continuous anti-dumping is not particularly beneficial to its own development. In addition, During the trade war, each group has its own vital interests and needs. The demand for solar power generator solar panels in Germany is still very large. The trade war between Europe and the United States is also going on, and the EU can't completely obey the United States from its own interests."
